Project Details

A Golden Mile plaza owner called live dispatch at 1:40am after a break-in shattered a full-lite storefront door and bent the lock stile. Police were on scene and the store was wide open.

Scope

  • Arrive within the 2-hour Toronto window, clear glass and board the opening
  • Photograph all damage for the police report and the insurer
  • Measure for laminated glass and order a new Adams Rite deadlock and cylinder
  • Return to glaze, re-align the stile, install the deadlock and adjust the closer

Outcome

The opening was boarded by 3:30am and the store opened at 9am as usual. The permanent repair went in two days later with laminated glass for better forced-entry resistance, and the claim was direct-billed.

Why it worked

Documenting the damage before anything was moved made the insurance claim straightforward. Upgrading to laminated glass on the permanent repair means the next attempt will not leave the store open.
