When a Storefront Door Has Reached the End
Storefront doors can be repaired many times. Pivots, closers and locks are all replaceable. But eventually the door itself gives out. The aluminum corners crack and separate. The stile bends. The glazing pocket corrodes. Once that happens, new hardware cannot make the door close and lock reliably, and repair bills keep coming.
A full-lite panel swap replaces the door and keeps the frame. It is the fastest and most affordable way to restore a worn storefront entrance, and it can make the entrance stronger than it was. We recommend it once repeat visits from our Toronto commercial door repair crews stop making a difference.
Signs It Is Time to Replace
- Cracked or separated corners on the door frame
- A stile that is bent, split or pulling away from the glass
- The same door needing repairs every season
- A lock that will not stay aligned even after strike and pivot work
- Heavy corrosion at the bottom rail from salt and water
- Plain tempered glass on a street-level door that has been targeted before
What a Panel Swap Includes
Matched or upgraded stile
We can match your existing stile width or upgrade. Many narrow stile doors that have failed are replaced with medium stile doors that take stronger hardware.
New glass
Every replacement door comes with new safety glass. Tempered is standard. Laminated glass is recommended for street-level retail because it resists forced entry and holds together when broken.
Fresh hardware
New Adams Rite locks and cylinders, pivots and a Dorma or LCN closer set for your traffic, all finish-matched to the rest of the storefront.
Frame reuse
If the frame is sound, it stays. That keeps the cost and the disruption well below a full storefront rebuild.
Replacement Cost Guide
| Option | Typical range (CAD) |
|---|---|

| Single door, medium stile upgrade, laminated glass | $4,500 - $6,500 |
| Pair of doors or premium finish | $6,500 - $9,500 |
The written CAD scope confirms stile, glass, finish and hardware before we order.
Installed Around Your Hours
Storefront swaps are scheduled before opening or after close. The old door stays in service until the new one arrives. If it fails in the meantime, we temp-secure the entrance so the store can be locked.
On one Church Street salon, a cracked narrow stile door no longer held its lock. The crew measured on a Monday, ordered a medium stile replacement with laminated glass, and swapped the door at 7am the following week. The original frame stayed, and the salon opened at 10 as usual.
Repair, Replace or Rebuild?
- Repair when the door is sound and only hardware has failed. See storefront door repair.
- Replace when the door panel has failed but the frame is sound. That is this service.
- Rebuild when the frame is corroded or the storefront layout is changing. See storefront door installation.
We will tell you which applies and give you the numbers in writing.
Glass-Only Problems
If only the glass is broken and the door is otherwise in good shape, a glass replacement may be all you need. See commercial glass door replacement, including same-night board-up after a break-in.
