Project Details
A Bramalea grocery store’s main entrance was a worn swing pair that slammed, drafted and slowed shoppers with carts. The owner wanted an automatic sliding entrance before winter, without losing a trading day.
Scope
- Survey the opening, header height and power with the store’s electrician
- Supply a Besam bi-parting sliding entrance with BEA sensors and breakout panels
- Remove the swing pair after closing and install the header, track and panels overnight
- Commission sensors, speeds and breakout panels to ANSI A156.10
- Walk staff through night lock and breakout operation before opening
Outcome
The crew installed and commissioned the entrance between closing and opening and handed over at 7am. No trading hours were lost, staff reported far fewer drafts at the checkout lanes that winter, and the store added the entrance to a quarterly service plan.
Why it worked
Pre-staging materials and coordinating power in advance meant the overnight window was spent installing, not waiting. Commissioning before handover meant the door was right on the first morning.
