Project Details
On the Saturday of pride weekend, the pull handle on a Church Street retail storefront sheared off, and the closer had been struggling for weeks. With the biggest trading weekend of the year underway, the retail property manager needed the store open and secure.
Scope
- Arrive Saturday morning and fit a temporary bar so the door could be opened, closed and locked
- Confirm the closer and handle models and order matching Dorma parts
- Return Monday morning to replace the closer and the full handle set
- Adjust the closer for sweep, latch and backcheck and test locking
Outcome
The temp bar was on by 11am and the store traded through the whole weekend. The new Dorma closer and handle set went in Monday morning before opening. Zero downtime.
Why it worked
Live dispatch on a weekend and a practical temporary fix kept the store trading. Ordering exact-match parts rather than improvising meant the permanent repair took a single short visit.
